HFC's void warranty?
I am looking into getting HFC's but was told by a technician at a reputable muffler and exhaust shop in Houston that adding HFC's will completely void your warranty for engine, transmission, drivetrain, etc.
Has anyone else heard of this or have any knowledge of whether or not this is true? Thought it would be a good idea to check before I purchase and install.

the ONLY way any aftermarket part can void a warranty is if something breaks and Infiniti can prove it was that specific aftermarket part that caused the problem.
so just putting them on doesn't instantly void your warranty. if something goes wrong with the engine, they must honor your warranty unless they can show it was the HFC's that specifically caused the problem

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act says that a manufacturer cannot deny a warranty claim because of an aftermarket part, unless the part in question actually CAUSED the problem that the warranty claim is about.

HFC don't void warranty on any system except possibly on affected exhaust parts, like O2 sensors. Even then, they may not. I had my HFC installed by CLI. I later had my muffler replaced by them under warranty for the infamous rattle.
What "reputable" shop in Houston told you that?

Well your shop is wrong about this one. How swapping out an exhaust component could negatively affect other unrelated systems on the car is beyond me. The exhaust/emissions system possibly, but nothing else.

If you get a CEL due to the HFCs, don't expect the dealer to fix it.
Can they void the warranty on the engine? Yes. HFCs can cause you to run lean. Is it likely to cause any damage? not likely. Infiniti historically has been very generous when it comes to aftermarket bolt-ons.
For those in Cali: HFCs are illegal.

Ok guys well i found out it wasnt my clutch that was slipping. My master slave cylinder was leaking oil so the dealer replaced that. But when they were bleeding the line they found that my clutch line was melted...they blamed the reason for failure on my aftermarket hfc (Berk)...I called the original manufacturer and they have been very helpful sideing with me saying that their is no way that was possible.
Here is an example of an aplicaltion that has been on a G37 for 1 year. No problems.
Stealership = damnd crooks. :angry:
Edit: Line wrapped in silver heat wrap leads to the clutch. These are CARB approved legal cats btw...

That's what I was saying, even tho HFCs are not suppose to void warranty, dealership will be a PITA, making up excuses to avoid doing free work. It would probably get to the point where you have to take it to court. I hate dealing with dealership (warranty) service, their lies and excuses.
