Gen 3 Stillen Intakes
Just wondering how hard it is to change the filters on the Gen 3 intakes by Stillen when it is time for them to replaced. The position behind the grill makes it a bit tedious I bet - do you have to remove the grill each time? Would appreciate feedback from Gen 3 owners. Also, saw it had approx 18 rwhp gains - any other intakes approach this if the filter changing is a pain? Thanks....

The filters don't need to be cleaned for a good 20k + miles, of course depending on which type of climate you live in.

Instead of taking the whole front bumper off, you should be able to take the top plastic piece that attaches to your hood latch off and get to the intakes that way. It'll save about a good 20 - 25 minutes worth of headaches. The initial install it's mandatory to take the bumper off though.

changing the filters is VERY easy. like Staples said, you just take off the radiator cover and then take out the filters. and unless you live in an incredibly dusty area (like Sam in the sand dunes ) they only need to be changed every 50,000 miles.

absolutely! the OEM filters are paper filters and definitely need to be changed. ask the infiniti tech on here (i cant remember his user name but look in the newb section and you'll find him) for the interval to change them
thanks for the clarification, i wasnt clear in my post. very true, you don't need to buy new filters at all, just wash them with warm water and mild detergent and then dry and re-oil.
and Brad, YES they are K&N filters

Thanks fellas. Was planning on utilizing the Stillen new years sale and getting the stillen catback exhaust and the intakes free, but I think the MXP sounds better, so I'm gonna hold off on both for a bit - gotta make up for the Christmas time shopping....
