looking for Intake suggestions for my G37
Ok, I've decided to start small with the mods and see where it takes me . So, for starters I'm looking for some suggestions on intakes, what gives the most HP improvements, cost etc.
Im looking at:
JWT pop charger intakes
Injen dual cold air intakes
Fujita dual short ram
or the
Takeda retain short ram
What are your thoughts. Thanks!
also, has anyone installed the 3rd generation Intakes by Stillen Performance? thanks.

injen CAI seems to be most popular. from what i hear from people who own it, it has high end gains but loses some low end.
injen sri sounds better and louder. it doesn't have good high end gains like the CAI but it doesnt lose low end.
I would pick either of these. It depends on what you want though...
I also heard that stillen 3G CAI has the best gains overall. Some even said it's the only intake that actually prove to provide any gains.
However, if i were to go for gains i'd pick injen CAI, if i were to go for sound i would go with injen SRI.

You first gotta decide if you want a cold air intake or a short ram. They both have their pros and cons
Cold-Air Intake
Pros:
More power
Looks nicer
Sounds MEAN
Cons:
Harder to install
Possible hydrolock
Short Ram Intakes
Pros:
Easy to Install
Sounds nice from 4K and up
Cons:
Prone to heat soak
not as much power compared to a CAI
heat soak may cause some sort of power loss
some short rams have weak heat shields.
If you were to go with Cold Air Intake get the Injen.
If you were to get the Short Ram Intake get the Injen as well.
Fujita have no heat shields, Takeda is kkind of new so it's up in the air, however it is a branch off of a wellknown company AFE. JWT pops are decent expect for their crappy fitment.
Also check out the R2c intakes, their filters and heat shields look legit.

Thanks guys, this really helps. Although, this is a real noob question. What is hydro lock? How big a problem? Think I've decided on the CAI for power.

After much reading of MyG37 reviews, tests, and opinions, I finally got Ingen SRI's - solid deal (installed) from Import DPS in Philly. Driving away, I felt some new power. But, I really didn't get to exercise the car until I got back to my neck of the woods - half to 2 miles between lights, 45-50 MPH speed limits (cops are cool with 60-65). All I can say is WOW! I've put on about 120 miles on local roads since Saturday!
My car was bone stock, except for a pair of HKS filters I bought/installed about 3 weeks ago. I was loving the filters, but wanted more...
I guess I can use the HKS's on service loaners...

I am also thrilled that my fears - from a K&N FIPK I put on my old turbo Eclipse - were unfounded. The K&N gave me lots of drivability probs - uneven shifting, low-end torque loss, etc.
But, the Injens seem to improve low-end torque, and it shifts better (in DS mode) Car is docile/civil (Dr Jaeckel) in drive and below 3K-3500, above that, and Mr Hyde comes out to play - and the sound is intoxicating!

But you have exhaust work done, don't you?
I didn't want to mess with exhaust, because it's lots more expensive, and harder to remove. AND, I really like the G's factory exhaust sound.
The HKS filters gave me a power bump I could feel - I can feel the Injens MUCH more.

I have Injens myself and i love em. I've had them for about 4k miles with no issues. I was a little scared about driving in the rain with them since they mount so low but, after a huge down pour my filters were still dry. The gains and the sound is pretty good too.
Plus they look siiick...

Ask shumby! He'll find u and kill you and stuff u in his fridge if you don't jump on the R2C group buy. It is pretty sweet and I'm waiting for the GB too. 10 people are needed for the GB and last time I checked there were like 7-8 on the list. Do a search. 1-2 members already have it and are extremely happy with it. Buy it! LOL.
