Takeda Short Ram intake vs Injen SRI
I know there are a **** load of posts concerning these two and I've read most of them but can you guys help me make a decision. The Injen look super easy to instal but instal is not really a problem. I'm not putting on intakes just for HP gain but mostly sound although i would love an increase in power. So let me know between these two which would be the best for my 09 G37s. Thank you to who ever gives a useful response.

I would go with the Injen just because it has the non-oiled filters. Takeda is a branch off from aFe, a WELL known company in the BMW community. However, as we all know, branch offs don't really do well, I.E. Fujita from Injen.

Having said that, I have the Injen's and am very happy. I'm skeptical of the claimed HP gains of the Takeda but, if they are legit, that would be the way to go. The sound of the Injen's is great and I like the idea of the heat shield, which the Takeda's do not have (I believe).
If someone could confirm the HP gains claimed in real world tests, I would go Takeda... otherwise, go with the best deal.

You may be correct... I saw a pic without heat shields but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Is the heat shield the area with the "Takeda" label? If so, how does that work given the filter is still exposed to the engine?

Okay let me chime in since I have the Takeda myself, the location of the heat shield for the intake is to reduce the heat from the radiator hoses which is very damn hot btw lol, the intakes themselves get somewhat hot during driving/crusing around in the mornings(80-90*F) and at night they are about semi-warm so I wouldnt worry about heat soak so much, not sure about Injen's heat shields although they do look like that they work better
As for the Hp/Tq claims from Takeda, I doubt it would be that high, but I'm trying to get some dynos going here pretty soon(was waiting for test pipes and exhaust to come in so I could test those also) to see real world results.
And they look better IMO =)DSC00064.jpg?t=1243617694

Takeda is infamous for reporting high #s on dynos.
Google it and you will see.
Their work sounds legit.
But, their marketing is no-no.
In the 350z forum, the Takeda claimed the ridiculous number by only their short ram intakes. So, people tested and dynoed(even the Takeda mentioned anyone who doubt about the numbers can watch doing a before/after dyno there).
But, guess what, it turned out that the increase in dyno number was in the rage which other short ram intakes resonably claim.(1~5whp)
Their quality work and craftmanship are maybe the best in its league, but their marketing is obviously not.

Takeda's look good (better than the Injens, but I wasn't sold on that heatshield nor their HP claims. Claiming those ridiculous HP gains was actually a turn off for me.
I ended up with the Injen SRI, easy install. More reputable company. And the heatshields are actually shielding heat. Plus I love the growl my Injens make.
One thing though, my mpg decreased by 2-3 with the Injens, maybe its my changed driving habits, so I can hear the growl. Not sure.
