Interesting idea. Like Kid said, there is no reason the filters on the gen3 would suck up water, but there really isn't a downside to doing this so good on you for some innovative thinking

There isn't a need.. but if you were in a seriously dusty area, or thinking about turning your G37 into a submarine, K&N also has pre-filters which are water resistant. But it will cost you horsepower, just like the hydroshields. Just contact us upon purchase and we'd be happy to set you up with the pre-filters.
