For someone who likes the stock G exhaust sound but wants it a little louder and deeper, what do you recommend?
I've been listening to exhaust sound clips posted around the forums here and so far:
HKS and Tanabe both seem much louder and too different from the stock exhaust sound.
I'm guessing you'd want to skip doing HFCs since they'd be rather loud?
How about the Stillen cat-back? I could only find a clip of it with HFCs. Curious how it sounds by itself.
Any other options that retain the stock sound or close to it?

I was looking for the same sound and loudness as you are and I ended up going with the Tanabe. I just installed it 4 days ago and I love it. It still has that stock tone to it but it is deeper and louder but not too loud. It was a hard decision because there is so many to choose from but I am very happy with the Tanabe. Perfect sound and tone for what I wanted.

Okay a lot of them sound pretty good, I guess my biggest concern would be avoiding whatever causes the backpressure "fart" sound to be noticeable on the down-rev after revving the car at a stand still. I really dislike that and hear it pretty clearly on some vids of Tanabe and HKS especially when either has HFCs. Perhaps the HFCs are what allow that raspy sound to be heard more. It's just so nasty sounding I couldn't take that on a G. Maybe a sportscar like a Z, but the G i just kind of expect a little more elegance from, hahah
though i do like the weight savings with the tanabe over stock!

Intakes, larger diameter piping on cat back systems, and HFC are the main cause of the "hiss" you hear on deceleration in the videos you've seen. I have the Invidia which is 2.5" cat back and HFCs and my hiss is quite prominent.
