So, given the choice would I buy this system again... probably not with systems like the Takeda at a much lower price. Will I seek to replace it with a Takeda.. no, it still works and does the job well.
Red, you even Pick the Takeda over the R2C considering it doesnt have the heat-shield option?

I doubt the heat shields are really needed at least in my neck of the woods and non-racing application. I like Takeda's under mounted MAF's. Filter quality not so sure about, R2C probably has a lead there but then it's also near $200 more... I'd probably go with Takeda for my application were it available at the time... but not like I'd sell the R2C for them.
As far as intakes go, there's no real difference between any of them other then sound between SRI and CAI on this engine IMO.
Honestly the tiny bit that your engine may be running a little, and I mean a little lean may take an insignificant amount of life from your motor. Headers would cause it to run more lean. You should be just fine without a tune. I have the R2C intakes and tuned, and before my tune the tuner informed me that these intakes hardly cause the engine to run lean enough to cause any negative effects.
Personally I think CAI's are overated... check out Intake air temp on R2C's. Does take much forward motion to drop it down to what a CAI would produce anyway.
