Thinking about changing the ribbed tubes to straight metal tubes...but still using the factory intake box...what do you think?

i'm a honda guy, and most honda's all have some sort of intake tube which still uses the factory box to keep torque...that's where i got the idea from...

too bad ARC doesn't make an intake chamber for our cars...hopefully they'll design one for the 370z that'll work on our cars...i hate using mushroom filters

i have wanted someone to produce cf intake tubes for a while. i would do ths set-up with drop-ins.

yea, metal tubes are prone to heatsoak, but so are plastic in a way...the ribbed tubes are what i'm ultimately trying to get rid of....worst case will be to get the tubes wrapped....

and yes, drop-in filters (already ordered hks) with metal tubes...

The G35's had "z-tubes" from a 350z intake. There is nothing like this for the G37 (yet).

Yeah, that was probably like the most popular setup for g35's. We really need someone to get something like this for us. I'd much rather just do a drop in with some z tubes, than changing the entire intake. Looking at the pics of the g35 ztube i wonder if one could just order two of those and with some slight modifications get them to fit?

I've always wondered. What is the big difference in the Z tubes and stock tubes anyways? Do the Z tubes just not have the ribbed part in them like the stock do?

yes sir, the ztubes eliminates the ribbed section....the ribbed section causes turbulance in the airflow, therefore causing you to lose 100rwhp...haha

There was a discussion on the purpose of the ribbed rubble tubing, something about creating turbulence in airflow so it mixes with the fuel better.......

no...the ribbed section doesn't do crap...reason for the ribbed section is so there's flex in the pipe if the engine ever moves too much...

besides, we're not driving cars with carbs...it's all fuel injected....the fuel injectors inject the fuel like a fine mist...therefore the mixture is always perfect...the turbulance stuff is bullcrap

The 350 Z tube did not have the "silencers" that the G35 stock intake tube did, which supposedly made for a better airflow, and definitely helped with the sound. My question is can we use the 370Zs stock intake tubes on the G37??
