Y-Pipe or not

With spring coming up, I am about ready to order an exhaust... I heard the Greddy exhaust in person, and loved it....

My question is, Should I get a y-pipe or not with the Greddy? Will I feel a gain in performance or hear any different sound with the ED y-pipe as opposed to stock y-pipe?

Youtube videos can only help so much

Thanks

From everything i've heard you will gain some decent HP especially in the mid RPM range. It will also maybe add a little bit more sound to the tone.

also what I am trying to figure out is, if I buy Greddy and Y-Pipe I will be close to $1100, so is there any better results from other company's full cat backs around that price point?

The only thing keeping me leaning towards the Greddy and Y-pipe is that I have actually heard it in person (just greddy, no y-pipe in person) and loved it, and according to most on this site it is the deepest sounding exhaust

Thanks for any help guys

my set up is Greddy Ti-C + Ichiba Y Pipe which is pretty much what you are planning for. I love how my greddy sounds and after i got the Y pipe installed, i can definitely feel increased in tq down low. I think you should go for the Ichiba Y pipe instead of ED because its stainless steel so you are covered from corrosion and the performance is the same since the pipes are the same. I'd give Andy over at HP Autoworks a call. I bet he can hook you up greddy + ichiba y pipe for under 1k shipped.

The y-pipe actually smoothed out the sound when I had my Greddy & JIC-Magic Y-pipe. I felt a very nice gain in the mid-range and top-end. You could really feel the power during freeway/highway passing situations. And the car just felt like it kept pulling at the top-end.

maybe you should get a full catback then, borla has been seen to have the most gains... proven by dyno, but then again everyone is also praising FI, so either one would be great... get hfcs while you're at it

^If he really likes the sound of the Greddy, I highly doubt he'll like the Borla.

^Yeah, but that might not matter to him. He might just want the sound but still be able to have a full cat-back, and that's what he'll get exactly by getting a y-pipe.

I wanted a cat-back before the HKS came out, but I really liked the sound of the Greddy so I just got that with a y-pipe, and that was good enough till I got my HKS.

whatever floats the OP's boat... go for it... but my 2 cents you might as well get a catback if you're getting greddy + y pipe... and also get hfcs
