I'm also thinking the VDC cut-in was causing his issue also and not water

2nd, you'd have to pretty much submerged the front end of the car to get enough water in the filters to bog the engine, the plastic shield that comes included blocks water from coming in directly through the grill and its has the metal bumper below and your radiator cover and hood above so its pretty safe i think

I live in South Florida and have driven with pouring rain without any problems. Additionally, I have an aftermarket black powdercoated mesh grill.
