Stillen 3G intake and ECU chip = Engine overheat!! Trying to figure out why?

After spending a few hours at a garage specialized in intake fabrication and installation, my friend came out hooked up with the king of intakes, or so he thought till he reset his ECU and went on the streets.

To start with, the sound was mean! Gains were noticable however, the moment he wanted to put that beast to test..floored that thing and his engine temp needle hit H!! I dont know how its like in the US but over here.. the needle never clears 1/4 of the way (and thats after a long bumper to bumper traffic drive). So he parked in the gas station chilled for a while till it cooled off and went back off again.. starting revving higher and the engine over heated again!! I'm guessing the filters blocked the air flow to the radiators! I have to add he's got a programmable chip aside with his ECU but I doubt thats the problem.. Your feedback is much appreciated..

Sam

i would guess it's the chip... those things don't do anything to our cars but cause problems... so i hear... i read feedbacks on ebay and this guy said his a/c stopped working when he used the "performance chip..." but when i read about the stillen intakes a while back when they were introduced and a few people had them, everyone said the engine temp will be fine and not a problem.... dunno though?

Why don't you try taking off that programmable chip and see if the problem still occurs?

weird.. his car was perfectly fine..
two days ago at the autodrome he kept burnin his tyres drifting donuts etc with the needle bouncing of the limiter on 1st gear for around a minute i guess and his engine didnt over heat! his tyres did though lol
then the engine started overheating right after the install..weird..

chips = fail. please dont tell me he has 1 of those ebay "chips". they run your engine lean for more power at the expense of engine life. of course, something may be wrong with the intakes or install too. keep us informed.
