BB can you post how much you paid to have the dealer install your HFCs? I am having mine done @ the dealer right now, the estimate was $200 - $250.

I just picked up mine from the dealer, they hit me for $300. Two bolts twisted off while they were trying to get the old cats off so they had to get a welder to come weld new studs in the manifolds. Plus some new gaskets. The only noise I hear is loud.

I have an exhaust system with no resonators, that might make the sound more prominent. My exhaust has a slight hissing sound for a second or two whenever I release the accelerator as the RPMs drop.

Yes. I called the shop immediately after I recorded those clips in the Berk/FI HFC poll thread. I tend to get the sound when I hit 4.5-5K+ RPM or so. Sometimes higher doesn't matter which gear I'm in

I was told its normal for them to sound this way. Either folks end up living with it or swap back to stock cats.

I was like ok...that's comforting....anyhow its gotten a little better in the past week/half I've had these HFCs

Wow mine does not sound like that. Have you fixed it Peter?

I'm going to record some clips of mine with the digicam and I'll try to hit WOT so I can duplicate the noise.

I know this may be a different labor rate since I have an 05 but I paid 380 for my cats a few weeks ago through Kyle at Import Parts Pro (My350z.com vendor) and paid 100 at GRD (ChicagoZ discount) to have them installed.

They had them installed in a little over an hour and I was out the door video taping the video clips immediately afterward

I don't hear anything unusual in your clip, but I am listening on my phone not my computer speaker system. My only unusual sound was the one I posted about in #21 above, a loud rattling under acceleration caused from the Tanabe under brace rubbing the brackets on the Berk HFC.

Hmmm yeah well maybe because you're on your phone try it on a comp if you can sometime, once you see the rev go past 4 k you hear a rattling sound, I don't have the brace so i'm not sure what it could be.

I just listened to your clip Csquared. Your sound is kinda like a small whistling whine noise if my observation is correct. My sound is different. Its more of a small metallic rattle/rasp noise once the RPMs reach the 4K+ area

Sometimes its on the upper part of my acceleration, sometimes I hear it at the peak of my acceleration or just after the peak but its there.

I haven't recorded a sound clip because I haven't driven the cart much at all since last week. I'll record one when the rain clears up here in Chicago (had the car hand washed last week)

Which brace are you talking about? Maybe I can look it up and see if there's a way we can stop the rattle sounds

Do you think that the vibrations in the CATS/exhaust could be causing the rattle? I'd like to have my car on a lift and rev it while a camera is underneath near the CATS. I bet we'd find out what's causing this noise.

If its a simple bracket that can be fixed, I'd be happy to get it taken care of ASAP

It's the tanabe brace, that BB had. I think i have the same noise as you. I'm looking at removing the heat shields on the Y I think thats causing it. you still have stock exhaust yet?

I still have stock exhaust. I'd like to listen to the sound with the car on a lift. That way we can identify exactly where its coming from the passenger side.

I have to look into this Tanabe brace you mention about Csqaured. Do you have a link to the item?
