If you submerge them you will have a problem but if you take your car under that much water you are an idiot anyway. The shields will prevent any splashing or spray even though it ius unlikely that will cause hydrolock anyway.

For a car to suck up water and hydro-lock, don't the intake filters have to be submerged in water? By looking at the design of this intake, the water level has to be up to the grill for that to happen. You probably should not be driving your car and have bigger problems to worry about when your car's in water that high. Correct me if I'm wrong . . .
