i guess you are correct. the greddys look like they have the same bolt on point as the tanabes do on this vid.

Greddy Ti-C is a 'Y-Pipe" back system, what it means is that it has everything except the Y-Pipe, so if you want to comvert it to a full cat-Back system you must buy an aftermarket Y-Pipe, like the Exhaust Depot's or Tanabe.

Look at my sig, I have the Greddy and the Exhaust Depot's Y-Pipe and I'm a happy camper, it's taking longer that I expected to get used to the titanium blue tips, but I think I'm getting there, but to be honest I'd prefer this exhaust with the option of a regular OEM-Look tip, but that's the way it is, some people love the Titanium look some people don't.

Easy, the Tanabe's look and sound like they belong on a 40K Lux Sport coupe.. The Greddy looks like it belongs on a Ricer, not sure about the sound. I'm sure there are teens out there that would prefer the look and probably louder sound. Performance wise there's nothing stopping you from buying a Y-pipe for the Tanabe... more expensive route for sure but still less then comparible quality dual muffler cat back systems.

Tanabe: axle back, more mature, classy tone.

Greddy: Y back, more aggressive, racing tone.

Search more reviews and comparos on these, there's a few floating around.

Again, when choosing between these two exhausts all comes down to what you prefer sound wise.

I've had the Tanabe on for a few days and then switched to the Greddy.

Tanabe: I loved the fit and finish. The quality of the steel was by far the best of any exhaust I've had. As far as sound goes, I would say that this is what the G should've sounded from the factory. I agree with everyone that it's a more mature tone, and you definetly won't get any "unwanted attention". The sound is there when you want it.

Greddy: I like the Ti tips, but I still can't get over the angled tips espacially since I had an HKS on my G35. But the sounds completley makes up for the looks. This exhaust is nice and loud w/o the silencers and I love it. I don't even know where my silencers are anymore. The plus about this system also, is that all you need is to add a y-pipe to make it a full cat-back. Although, you will get some unwanted attention with the Greddy, I was pulled over for speeding last week, and the CHP officer almost gave me a ticket for it.

you read the post incorrectly. the question was why someone would spend $1200-$1500 on an aam exhaust when it looks and sounds like an $850 greddy exhaust. i have the medallions on my g.

price is almost the same for each. i'm getting mine put on tomorrow and i will let you know how i like it. the tanabe medallions i have sitting here (waiting to be put on) are put together extremely well. welds are smooth as butter and the finish is immaculate. all labelling is laser etched and i could not be happier at this point. we'll see how the install goes and if there are any issues afterwards.

if you want to go with a more modded look, go with the greddy. the tanabes are dual cannisters, but look more like stock unless you look further under the back end (to see the chrome duals).
wuts the difference between catback and axle back?

Catback: Basically, a full exhaust system. It goes all the way from the Catalytic Converters to the Muffler

Y-pipe back: Replaces the mid-pipe and muffler only

Axle Back: Replaces the muffler only.

i'm curious if everyone experiences a decrease in volume as the exhaust gets broken in. please comment.

The Tanabe tone became more refined after a week. I guess you can say it got quieter but the tone definitely improved and was not as raw.
