Ya, if it happens again I am going to go get an AF reading done to see if that has changed. I am thinking there might be a spike in the AF reading that is kicking this off at times. It has only gone off once due to the HFC sensor that I am aware of since I have installed the intake. It has happened to another member who has HFCs as well but that person also has an aftermarket exhaust. I think this person has gotten it twice if I remember right so the addition of the exhaust is probably a factor. We will see what happens when Max gets his installed since he has HFCs and an exhaust.

Hey, do you mind sharing what the part is for $15? Just curious to see what it is and what it's supposed to do.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with your new gear man.

I will need to get the name of the part. Someone on here might know though. I was told by some 350Z/G35 people about it. It has to do with the additional flang that is on the HFCs a little farther back. The said that 350Z and G35 owners have the same issue with HFCs and "this part" you buy will fix it. Someone on here probably knows what they are talking about so hopefully they answer. If not I will email the guy today and get the name of the part.

it's called a Sparkplug non-fouler. Unfortunatly it is not effective for the VQHR motors. I got this from BERK.

de-fouler, that sounds right. So it doesn't work on our HFCs?

It's not the HFC's that are the problem, it's the ECU. Here is the quote from BERK:

If you don't want to deal with check engine lights (CEL) then HFC's are the only way to go. The traditional non-fouler method which worked pretty well on the VQ35DE motors will NOT work on the HR motors (VQ35HR & VQ37HR). We've used this method for years and built it into our VQ35DE test pipes, but it DOES NOT WORK on the HR motors.
The algorithm used to monitor the secondary catalytic converter is much tighter for these newer cars.
You will have to use electronic fixes for these guys in the future.
