I guess we're gonna haveta wait until later this month to verify, since that's when the guys at Tanabe say the first shipment of exhausts is coming to the states. Or maybe the guy you talked to was referring to Tanabe's G35 exhaust, which goes to the y-pipe. Check it:

When I do the math I'm see Canisters and Pipe;
2 Megan Racing N1 Canisters, and some Pipe= >$500
Tanabe Axle back exhaust = $900
This is supposed to be mass produced and a non-custom application. You'd think the price would be less. And like I give 2 crap's about the fact it says, "Made in Japan."

Now, if you compare FI's exhaust, full stainless at MSRP of around $1500 plus, full cat, very nicely built here in the US and Tanabe's mid pipe at $900 and by the way, not because im doing the PRE-ORDER... (not group buy), quality 304 stainless steel and professionally done welds with undeniable warranty, Your pretty much getting what you pay for.
As for Injen's dual full catback, can anyone honestly say it will be less than $1400? I've checked with HKS also the price will be around the same as g35 twin cat back, MSRP....$1700 PLUS for 304 stainless.
So in my opinion, We all have different taste and budget and opinions on existing and up comming exhaust. It all depends on which one fits our eye's, ears and wallet
