OK. As promised. Here's the video. It's a little long, about 5 minutes, but I think it's a good all around assessment. The entire video is with the windows up. Starts with a highway cruise around 80 mph or so, includes some mild to moderate accel and a WOT blast from 80-1xx. I then slow down a bit, make another WOT run starting in 2nd gear, a little heel-and-toe downshifting, then moderate low speed accel. Very little drone while cruising, noise picks up with even just a little throttle, though.

It may be a little loud for some tastes, but for me coming from an LS1 V8 with an open exhaust, this is pretty mild.

how much did it cost to do this? Im thinking of doing it if the price is right. All your doing is removing the mufflers and getting a muffler shop to just run a bypass tube connecting the tips right?

Depends on the shop and what tips you get. Plan on around $75-125. Maybe more. Maybe less. And yes... that's exactly what I did. Remove muffler, add straight pipe w/ tips.

You have to replace the tips? You cant reuse the stock ones?
Is this considered removing the resonators? I've hears alot of people voice their opinions against that. Are you still happy with doing this?
I would love to hear this in person or a better sounding clip before doing this.
Is it tinny sounding or raspy in any way? or just louder and deeper? I want something louder but dont have the funds to do a proper exhaust right now.

THX!

You can probably reuse the stock tips, but it will cost just as much, maybe more than just buying new ones because they have to cut the stock ones off before they can reuse them. No. Resonators are still in place. Only the muffler was removed. I haven't personally heard a G without resonators. Very happy with the decision, but I know it's not everybody's cup-o-tea. Definitely louder and deeper. Did you check my other thread with the other sound clips?

Thanks.

I just took my mufflers off tonight just to see what it would sound like. Took me about 10 minutes to get them off. It definetly is LOUD at WOT. I too used to drive an open exhaust Cobra but that sound was music to my ears. Im not 100% sure about the way it sounds now. I do like it but it might be too loud...dont want the popo hearing me a mile away screaming down the road.
At idle its about as loud as stock just a little deeper and anything over 2.5k is very noticable. Is it any tamer with straight pipes and tips on since the exhaust/sound is behind the car instead of underneath it? The way it is now the exhaust pipe that connected up to the muffler kind of points up towards the trunk and i think that might make it a little louder...on that same note could CO2 be getting in the car that way too? I thought i smelled some exhaust in the car.
Did you get tips put on? If so which ones? Did you order them? Are most muffler shops going to have a good variety in stock? I really want to get something that looks similar to the stock look.

Thanks.
Richard

Well what size Piping did you go with? And did get it dyno testing? What kind of power did you feel you lost? What other mods did you have? Sorry for all the questioning but I am considering straight pipes from the muffler back

He was stock at the time, didn't have his JWTs, and no dyno.

A lot of people that I know who have done this mod say they have lost ENORMOUS amounts of power, yet again, this is coming from people that say they feel a HP gain on a grounding kit... lol
