Sounds like from what he is saying that it will go back to 12:1 no matter what with out a reflash that sucks. We need a reflash in a bad way. Comeon people get on this!

thanks again for helping us understand bro...
Resetting it isn't going to change that it's programmed to work at 12:1 ratio. Reflash necessary.

Well mine has run at 13 air/fuel ratio on both dynos I tried. I actually got compliments because of this. They actually pulled techs from the shop to see it because they told me that was the ideal setting and you never see that. I thought that was really cool and took their word for it because who is going to pull techs from a twin turbo install to see this. But when it was stock it would bounce like crazy when it got close to 6k RPM or 5.5k and up it looked like a Tangent line (on a TI calculator, anyone in or who has taken a high level math class should know what I am talking about) almost at that point. That is how much it was peaking and dropping. After the HFC install it equaled out the air/fuel ratio at the higher RPMs. I won't be able to get a scan of my Dyno with the HP/TQ curve and Air/Fuel ratio until next week due to a training bootcamp I am in this week.

bboy. how meny miles did you put on your car after you installed the HFC's and when you did the dyno? I am just trying to get from you post is the 13:1 to be expected after this install and stay that way or was the guy telling tech's to come over because 13 was good but abnormal and not seen on other cars? I hope the question is clear i know is sounds a little convoluted.

Shumby, I am mistaken. The optimal air/fuel was at idle and I cannot remember if it was 12 or 13. I just remember the techs showing everyone due to that and the power curve. I had other customers taking pictures of my engine and the shop asked if I would like to go to their drifting event to try out my car. I finally found out how to view the other categories on the dyno file like TQ and air/fuel. I thought it only showed HP but finding this Keith's comment makes more sense. I didn't even notice that the air/fuel bumped up like that because I noticed the air/fuel ratio evened out whereas in the runs without the HFCs they fluctuated. The 3rd run did look better though for air/fuel but the other 5 runs I did on the dyno (2 on this dyno and 3 on a previous dyno) didn't look as good. I have attached a pic of the air/fuel for the 2nd run. That is how the rest of my previous runs looked. I dynoed my car at like 4500miles. Both dynos were done on the same day within an 1.5 hours of each other so no miles extra on the car. So as far as the 13:1 goes I don't know. I will need to dyno my car again to see what the air/fuel ratio is at. Again, sorry about my mess up.

Great results BBoy. Thanks for putting in your own time & effort (and $$) to get some 3rd party dyno's.

About your A/F's. 12:1 is PIG rich for a G37. They will typically run ~14:1 in the lower RPM ranges and then 13:1 from mid range to redline. I've seen this time and time again on the dyno. The ECU may trim the fuel tables back a bit to closer to 12:7-13:0, but you should never see 12:1 @ full load on this motor. You guys are putting too much emphasis on just AF curves and not timing tables as well. You can make more power on a richer curve and vice versa.

If you guys notice what we do with all of our dyno tests, we make sure that we get at least 2 identical runs back to back so we know the ECU isn't making any more changes. Then change ONE part, re-test until we get at least 2 identical runs again. We ALWAYS use the same tank of gas, same day, same dyno, & if possible we don't even unstrap the car from the dyno while we do a parts change.

After all that we AVERAGE the gains accross all 4 runs. 50% of the companies in this industry will spit out the lowest & highest numbers to inflate what their parts are actually doing. Dyno's were first brought into this industry as instruments to make people honest, but now many manufacturers are using them as tools to fudge numbers like before.

Another thing I'm happy to report, is that this backs up our own data, a set of our ~$500 HFC's, will make MORE power & toque than a popular exhaust for the G37.

Here's what we are talking about. Here is our HFC test on a 350Z. 4 runs total, then they are averaged.

Here is our last S2000 exhaust, 4 runs total, then they are averaged. (BTW, we designed the world record holder for HP & TQ gains on the S2000, & 2nd fastest NA car at the last Super Street/Euro Tuner Super Lap event.) We soundly trounced all of the $$ JDM guys in the power department, Spoon, Mugen, Amuse, Toda, etc.

If we can do that on a 2.0L motor, just think what will magic we can work on a 3.7L.... Titanium mufflers anyone?
