Fujita Intake installed

although, i'll say that i CAN feel a difference in how big my SMILE is when i ramp it up to 7krpms

i honestly love it. it turns more heads than the G does on its own.
i'm certainly not left wanting more as i went in with realistic expectations. i knew the power gain was minimal and the only real benefit (if you see it as such) is a more aggressive exhaust note, especially under load.

Is it just me ? I just got my G37 and still have my '06 coupe for another 3 weeks. I have been comparing them side by side. The wonderful exhaust sound of the old coupe is totally gona...i cant hear it at all sitting in the G37.....maybe i will have to get an aftermarket exhaust just to make it sound like the old coupe ?

no, unless the installation CAUSES a failure, which is highly unlikely.
one word of caution, on this note:
when i unpacked my intakes, upon inspection of the air tubes, i could see extraneous metal inside from where the welds were made. it looked like a metal 'tab' just hanging on by a (metalic) thread. i got a screw driver after it and broke it off and made sure there were no other obstructions.
in this case, if i had left it in there and drove the vehicle, i could have had a big problem. the piece could have come off and went into the engine causing 7 different kinds of hell. in that even, the dealer WOULD void the waranty from the intake install. make sense?

Someone posted the following comment on the video. Can someone provide either confirmation or a rebuttal (with facts..)
"sounds nice but your better off just getting 2 K&N replacement filter because they stay in the filter box protected from heat. You lose power with exposed filters sucking in all that heat flowing through the engine bay. The pipes do nothing for power since its a dual intake. even with a turbo those pipes would offer no performance improvement since the factory tubing is more than enough. "

It's a fact that 100% of the aftermarket intake dynos are done with hood open for a reason. They know better than anyone else that you'll loose power with hood closed and sucking hot trapped air under the hood.
I used to have 2003 Civic Si HB with short ram intake and you loose about 7 ~ 8 HP from stock with hood closed. I believe you loose power with aftermarket intake rather than gaining from it. If it has heat shield design like the way stock came from the factory then it's different story. the only flaw on stock intake design is that it has very small air inlet opening compared to aftermarket intake and I think that's where the small gains are made with aftermarket intake. It's not the cone filter or the piping that gives you the power but the test conditions are manipulated to give buyer wrong impression of the results.
I'm planning on modifying the stock intake system with K&N filter to create larger air inlet opening to help breath better and still shielded from the heat. This is probably the best intake system that money can buy with complete heat shield box engineered from the factory. There is reason why engineers design intake with full heat shield rather than open cone filter design.
