Often times I wish the throttle pedal had a stiffer spring. I find that just like the clutch pedal before this mod, it too offers poor feedback. This after nearly a year of owning the car. There's other minor annoyances, but in the context of driveability, this would probably be at the top of the list. Hard to retrain 15 yr old muscle memory. Used to stiff gm pedals. This is likely a byproduct of drive by wire, and unlikely nissan will design a different throttle assembly for the G/370z/other cars. Cheapest to reuse as many components as possible.

true that. i think that's why the g37 is an absolute bargain (IMO) compared to the competition...use as many of the same parts as you can on several cars in order to keep overall costs down.
as far as this mod goes, it has to be the biggest bang-for-the-buck value you can do to a 6mt.

Just got done switching out the springs. Thanks again to JSolo for the quick shipping. Very easy to do and only took ~5-10 mins to complete first time out. Only tested it briefly, but so far so good. It now feels a lot closer to other cars I've driven, but will probably still take a little getting used to since I've had this car close to 5 years.
Now here's the weird part...
My stock assist spring looks nothing like the yellow one someone put up. I'm not sure if this is because my 6MT was one of the first to roll off the assembly line (picked up on 11/12/2007), but it's not even close...there's an extra coil and isn't painted yellow

Spring installed (finally). Pretty easy once you get the right tools lined up.
I found angled needlenose pliers the way to go to get the bolt out. Just put the angled nose into the bolt and lever it out of there. New spring is soft enough to just slide it over the original assembly, push it up a bit, and get the bolt back in there.
Only drove around for 5 minutes, going to take a little while for the left foot to get used to the new pedal. For the price, great mod.

I had mine installed late yesterday and I have to say I am very impressed. Feels like it should now as if it came from the factory. The original spring made the pedal feel way too light and now w the new spring installed it feels just right. After coming from a G35 coupe for past 1.5 years the clutch pedal felt a bit too heavy which I had liked but now w the new spring install on the 37S it feels perfect. Kudos to the guy who created this inexpensive mod!!!

^^True indeed. If I had not known about this mod before buying the car, I might have actually passed on the car altogether.
In fact there was an article in today's tribune about a guy with a hyundai tiberon manual. Apparently those cars have clutch delay valve to slow down clutch engagement. Seems to also result in vague clutch feel too. From the article, the guy sounded like a seasoned MT driver. His complaint was having to replace a clutch at 38Kmiles compared to 140K+ on his previous MT vehicles.
All these stupid aids. We buy a manual car to keep it simple, not to be nannied.

No argument here. Even though the rev-matching 6MT on the 370Z is a fun little toy, I'm pretty sure I'd end up just turning it off. And not because I could drive any better, but simply because I want to do the driving.
