AC issue

Hi.

Having a weird issue with AC not blowing cold air. I noticed this morning that the radiator fans do not turn on when I turn the AC on. Air comes in, but it is not cold, just ambient temperature.

I checked the fuses and relays and even ran the IPDM/er self-test and the fans DO turn on and even go to HI speed setting.

When I let the car come up to temperature after idleing for about 10 minutes, the radiator fan still do NOT switch on.

I'm am thinking coolant temperature sensor? Any advice, help would greatly be appreciated. This is the worst time this can happen as I live in AZ...

You ran the IPDM/er test, did you notice if the compressor clutch clicked on/off?

When you turn the AC ON, does the compressor kick on?

Did you check refrigerant charge (level)?

Outside of the AC not blowing cold, does your car exhibit any signs of overheating/ running hot?

Yes, compressor clutch clicked on/off during IPDM/er test.

I tried again just now and no, the click of the compressor clutch did NOT turn on.

Refrigerate charge good.

Car shows no signs of overheating.

If the AC compressor clutch cycles with the IPDM/er self-test, but does not engage when the engine is running, that typically indicates that either the refrigerant level is low or there is a control issue.

You indicated the charge was good... how did you verify this? What were the static pressure readings (hi and low sides)?

If, indeed, refrigerant charge is correct, and the AC compressor still will not engage, then you have to look further into the control side of the system (HV/AC amp, switch panel, numerous sensors, etc.) There is a further self-diagnostic in section HAC (Heating & Air Conditioning Control System) of the factory manual I could point you to... it is too exhaustive to get into here.

I would still double-check the refrigerant charge before going further as 99% of the time that is the culprit.
