Mechanic says it's ignition timing, not gallery gasket...

So, I brought my '09 g37x with only 60k on the odo, to a local shop today to have it examined after I realized that the rattling I'm hearing was not a heat shield, but pinging. I went in with the assumption that he would test the oil pressure and tell me I needed the dreaded gallery/galley gasket fix. However, he advised that it is purely an ignition timing issue that the dealers are aware of and that someone with a scantool (a dealer) can fix it.

The question is: Is there a known ignition timing issue with this car that is being fixed fairly frequently through the software? If so, can someone refer me to an article or TSB?

What do you guys think? I asked him if he tested the oil pressure, but he didn't. I'm all for getting a second opinion, but who the heck do I bring it to? Still waiting on a response to suggestions in the Northeast forum on mechanic recommendations.

Thanks!
Paul

years ago, I had the entire dreaded readout. P0021 and the P0054 I believe. The engine went into limp mode, and that mechanic changed the pressure sensor and they "went away". Two years later, no code, but the pinging has been occurring for quite some time (months if not longer) under the impression that the problem was one of the many shields that rust off. Power is seemingly fine, but the pinging remains....no codes, no CEL. Edit: perhaps I should resize those, gimme a few secs. Readings taken at idle.

Anything look wonky in those idle numbers to anyone? Brought her to Infiniti today, they said it's predetonation, even though I've used premium fuel since the car was born. THey're checking the ECU, but I don't much faith that this is going to be fixed...
