G'day!
My G37s coupe (2009) has just shown a symptom which I have not experienced before.
After leaving the car on the sun (+40C outside) for a few hours, when i departed the Battery light came on during start and stayed for about 2 minutes, then it went away.
Wonder if it is the battery or the alternator?
whats best to do?

Most auto part shops can check the charging system for you, shouldn't take long. If you've never replaced your battery I'm sure you're due for a new one

Battery is 11 months old and under warranty, Went to the shop last night where I bought it from. By the time I reached the shop, the light was already gone. Meaning not 'on'.

They checked the system when I arrived. It was charging at 14.2 volts. Then they checked the the battery itself and checked OK.

Then I started again the vehicle and the light stayed on, then the alternator was not charging anymore. After that, I revved the car to 4000 rpm single time and then the battery light dissipated again, and the alternator started charging again.

That is the interesting part....

I checked the belt, seems good.

Anyone any thoughts?

 

Alternator is likely taking a crap.

 

I agree... It's probably on its way out.

 

So you know OEM battery requires distilled water in the chambers since its acid battery. If it goes low it will not charge correctly and can lead to battery swelling, not charging, white build up on terminals
