typical key fob battery life?

I replaced the battery in my key fob and within a few weeks was getting the low battery warning. a few weeks later and I have to hold the key up to the dash to get it to detect.
This has happened the last few times I've changed batteries. I have got batteries from walmart, dollar store, and a legit battery shop. all same results.

I swear I had the car over a year before it started asking for fob batteries.

So.... how long do batteries last you guys?

I changed mine every 2 years. They still work fine but just to be safe.

Mine last about two years. I always have a few spare batteries ready to go.

so... the fob has a voltmeter built in? or does the car infer that low signal strength is due to low battery?

My G37 battery lasted just over two years, but my G35 battery lasted about 6 years. I guess because of the all the extra indicators on the dashboard the battery in the G37 is drained faster.

all this information is great, I'm glad you guys are getting multiple years of battery life out of your fobs

but it doesn't explain why mine starts complaining about low fob battery after 2-3 weeks!

Chris- clearly something is wrong with either the key transmitter or the receiving end in the car- most likely the key transmitter.

Have you tried the other electronic key to see if the problem persists?

What kind of range do you guys get from the lock/unlock buttons on the keyfob? I find I have to be within 10-15 feet even with a brand new battery in the keyfob
