ECU and Transmission update by the dealer, is it recommendable?
Hello everyone!
i have a 2009 G37x, and I was a little skeptical about my iPod Plug in the center console because it didn't charge my iPod. i researched about it and i read that the car might need an update because the old system only charges old generation iPods. i called the dealership and they told me that there were two types of updates, the ECU one and the Transmission one. does anybody know if these are recommendable and if they actually make a big change or not?
Thanks!

I can't speak to the iPod charging (and am not sure how it relates to the transmission), but when I bought my 2012 coupe last fall I had the dealership check to see if the tranny and ECU had the latest software updates. It did not, and they updated it for free. It made a huge difference on the transmission! I did have to leave the car at the dealership for a full day, though.
