Test pipe install fail!

Dang,

Spent 12 hours on the driver side header-cat flange. More specifically, the bolt that you have to get through the engine bay. It is now completely rounded. Tried an extractor bolt, wouldn't budge. NEED HELP PLEASE!

Take off your drivers side tire, you should be able to get at the demon bolt easier. Grinder with a cutoff blade, could be your only option, or a torch to melt the bolt.

If everything is still attached and solid, you'll be better off in the long run taking it to a muffler shop and letting them torch/extract it off.

How many miles on the car, how much rust is there, and did you let some sort of rust penetrant sit on there at least overnight before attempting this?

I actually soaked pb blaster on it everday for a week prior to the install . Car has 30k miles on it. Not sure if a grinder would fit but it's worth a shot. What do you think of a dremel? Just to cut the head of the bolt to release tension right?

I think as long as you are talking about the lower two bolts on the triangle, cutting the head off is fine. On the top bolt, the interior of the flange is threaded.

Oh that's right, it is threaded. Well, on the other side, I broke the head off and it came loose. On the drivers side, no luck. If I grind it in half, I presume it would not work then? Totally in limbo with this one. I actually have been running like this for over 2 weeks. CEL is on because of it.
