Unhappy Totaled??

Quick Summary of the Incident:

In broad daylight, I drove through an intersection @ ~40 mph or less in a 45 mph zone. All seemed well, until a vehicle decided to run a red light into the intersection blocking my path. I tried to the best of my abilities to avoid the accident but considering that the vehicle darted out when I was already in the intersection, it was just unavoidable.

I came to this forum to ask for opinions on whether or not you think insurance companies are going to consider this vehicle a total loss or repairable. Your opinions are appreciated

Pictures:

Damage is mainly in the front, interior is intact, steering wheel airbag deployed, back and sides of the vehicle is intact. I know you can't see much, but it's all I got right now.

Side Note: Audi's vehicles know how to take a hit, as well as, G37 of course.

That is pretty bad. I got in a head on collision but had less damage than you and my total cost to repair with the air bag and everything was almost $12K. Did your airbags deploy?

It's going to be close.. Totalled would be better, cause if you go to trade it in or sell it, it will be on your carfax. Hopefully the insurance company will cut you a large check and you can get another one

I would probably hope its totalled. There is alot of damage there. And who knows how much more damage there is underneath. The frame maybe bent.

Thanks for your thoughts guys! As of right now the adjuster says that it might be repairable, but it won't be determined until a full inspection is made at the repair shop. I really hope that they make it a total loss because it wouldn't feel the same driving this vehicle, as well as having safety concerns even if it was repaired.

I bet the impact tweaked the front end a bit. It is very likely your car is totaled.

depending on how hard the impact was, but from pictures that is repairable. We've seen cars way worst than that, and they were repaired, simply because the value of the G37 is still up there.

Theres a high chance they will repair it, and you will take a hit from the mark on the car when someone pulls the carfax

try to ask the insurance company to write it off.

Depends on State laws and your own policy. Some states don't allow diminish value and some insurance companies don't give you diminish value. He would need to check with his insurance company if they pay diminish value. If they don't he can file a claim with the other drivers insurance if the state the accident happened allows for diminished value. Example state of Nevada doesn't allow diminished value.

I T-Boned a Volvo a few months ago at around 30-35 MPH and got my Sedan totaled. I hit her dead center and the damage didn't look as bad as yours and the airbags did not deploy.

It really comes down to your insurance. They say they only declare total loss if the cost of repairs is more than 80% of the value of the car, but fixing a damage that serious takes weeks to do and wouldn't be cheap or safe. They'll sell that car for a few thousand dollars and would cut their losses. You on the other hand would hopefully get a fat check and will end up buying something better. You have the tittle for that car, right?
