Need opinion on Dealer oil change offer

I need some feedback regarding this.
Before i start, here's some background info.

I do all the the maintenance for both mine and my wofe's car and run nothing but synthic oil and a premium oil filter in both of them. These oil changes typically cost me around $40, give or take.

Today I received an offer from the dealership where I purchased my 2011 G37X. The offer states that if I buy one oil change for $45, I'll get two free. I know they don't use synthic oil and a stock oil filter, but I'm tempted by this offer.

Am I nutts?

My thought process is, with synthic I change the oil every 5k miles, but with this offer I would have the dealer change the Dino oil every 3k miles.

Now, I don't race the car, just a few brisk accelerations.

Your thoughts/opinions. All feedback is appreciated.

That's not a terrible price. I think what they're betting on is to talk you into other maintainence so they can make their money.

If you can resist the urge to as yes to other stuff...go for it.

As tempting as it may sound...DON'T DO IT!
Keep doing what you are doing now and if you aren't racing the car and are using a good quality synthetic you can change the oil every 7,500 miles!

You can always send an oil sample to Blackstone for an analysis and they could tell you a whole lot about the oil you're using.

I would keep changing the oil myself. Wouldn't want to go back to Dino after using synthetic. Also I hate going to the dealership for simple things so they can put greasy hand prints on the car and put swirl marks while washing the car. But the price they are offering is good. I think conventional oil and filter is like $20-25 and you are getting it for $15.

dont go to the stealership...they do it to get ur foot in the door and then have one of their maintence guys tell you what your car needs...lol i love when they used to do that to me and i tell them that i am a master mechanic and they look at me with a sort of fear in their eyes bc id catch them in so many lies.

Sounds like a good deal financially. Bbut seeing as you are a DIY premium synthetic guy like a lot of us are, you know what's the right thing to do. You're probably posting to ask the forum's opinion on this because you need a push to consider doing it. What does that tell you?

If you have the ability to do it yourself keep it up, you can assure the quality of the work being done to the car. That said I am almost chained to the dealership the complex where i live i can't do any work like this on my car so I'm stuck between the black which is my dealership OR one of these stand alone places ie jiffy lube or some crap who I trust even less!! What to do??????

Agree with posters above

Absolutely!
DO NOT let the dealership touch your new car! At least not for a silly oil change!
If you are lucky they will do it right and just leave you a greasy steering wheel, but if you are not... who knows?
Better do to it right the first time... do it yourself!

Agree with everyone else, just do it yourself. I can get it knocked out in under 30 minutes and have the peace of mind that I did it right without leaving my house.

With the dealer you have waste some gas to go in early, sit around then after 15 minutes have some advisor tell you what you need to have done, wait some more, then leave, probably about 1 hour total. On a busy day probably a little longer. Not worth it to me.
