Seat belt wont retract

Does anyone else have a problem with the driver side seat belt not retracting completely on it's own? Mine has been doing this for some time. When I remove it in only retracts a little bit and there's enough slack to where it gets caught in the door if I don't manually retract it by hand. Anyone else have this issue or know how to solve it?

'08 Coupe.

Thanks.

Every coupe I've owned has had this problem. The spring in the retractor/tensioner unit always gets weak.

The FSM might have steps in replacing it, but you need to pull some panels to get to it.

Thanks.

Aren't seat belts covered by a separate warranty of their own? Is failing to retract not a warranty issue?

Yes, 10 years unlimited mileage.

I don't think it is unless you can prove it will affect how it works when buckled.

None of my problematic belts had a problem retracting just enough for safety measures while they were pulled out and buckled, so I never had luck getting them replaced.

Could be worth a shot though?

Probably more a pain in the butt than broken. I would imagine if the inertia clamp is still functional they wouldn't cover it though.

Did the dealer replace it under the seat belt warranty or B2B (assuming you still have it)?

seatbelt

There is a tsb for seat belt tensioners. I had my 2010 driverside replaced and it works awesome now. They wouldnt do passenger side cause I didnt have any damage to door panels like driver side. They also replaced my door panel and seat back from damage from seatbelt not retracting properly.
