Battery maintainer through 12V outlet

I am new to Infiniti and wanted to know if you can charge/maintain the battery using through the 12V power outlet in the G?
I have a maintainer that I used with my Porsche that plugged into the cigarette lighter to maintain the battery during storage.

Thanks for your help.

The battery jack is only energized when the car is on (or possibly when in accessory). So no, your idea won't work. On older cars, the cig jack was hot all the time, so it was possible to use that to supply a 12V charge to keep the radio stations and such when changing batteries.

Charging through an outlet is not a good idea.
You can blow the rectifier diodes in the alternator.

Trickle chargers like the Schumacher brand come with a pigtail that attaches to your battery's terminals, and have an insulated connector at the other end.
I use one on my boat, very convenient. Just plug the connector, and plug the charger to an outlet.
