Rpm problem

Yea gotta love the G37.... I have a 2010 G37 S sedan. Has bout 9000 miles.:driving: But I have problems with the car. When I drive it in local going around 40 mph keeping the gas pedal steady my rpm
stays at 1k. Plus when I'm accelerating and the rpm is about 3k going 40 mph
then when I let go of the gas the rpm drops below 1k then stays at 1k cruising. When that happens and o try to gun it it lags like crazy. Also makes weird noises like it's a diesel truck. My question is should I still drive it, cuz I drive a lot every day and my car appointment is tomorrow? Would the 7 spd tranny tab apply to this problem or did I mess up the engine? Any help would be appreciated.

When you let off the gas the AT will try to shift to the highest gear and lock the torque converter (saving gas). The noise you are hearing is a combo of low revs and high load. Just give the gas pedal a quick stab and it will kick down.

Your problem is that you drive an AUTOMATIC.

The ecu needs time to predict how it wants to let you drive and what gear it plans on letting you drive in.

If you want to control your gears and a responsive throttle get manual.
