Storing car for Winter: Battery questions?

Hi,

I have just put my G37 in storage for the winter and I wish to trickly charge the battery while in storage.
Do I need to disconnect the battery from the vehicle or can I connect the charger directly?
Thanks

I had my 2008 on a trickle charger all winter last year without issue. I did not remove the battery but connected the charger directly to the terminals.

The battery will die for sure if the car is not used for a long period.

Ok, so it is sure that there will be no issues not disconnecting the battery? My dealer said to disconnect the negative lead but I trust what they say only as long as it takes me to redline in first! (g)..
