Question about 6,000km oil change

My car now has 6,000km. In the manual this is where I should have done the first oil change (or 3 months). However I did my first oil change at 3,000km at the dealership. The next scheduled oil change is at 12,000km.. should I wait until then to do the next one? Do I *need* to change the oil at 6,000km to meet any sort of warranty requirements?

Also, if I change the oil myself, it doesn't affect the warranty either right?

thanks

edit: I just noticed the 6,000km service has nothing under Schedule 2, stating "Next scheduled maintenance at 12,000km or 6 months". Does that mean I didn't even have to change the oil in the first place?

Schedule 2 is for people who mostly drive on the highways. Schedule 1 is for everybody else. See the manual for full descriptions.

You don't need to change your oil again at 6000km for the warranty, but it won't hurt anything and some think an extra early oil change or two can be beneficial.

If you change it yourself, just keep records and receipts to show in case of a question later on. Changing it yourself does not affect the warranty per se.

the debate over Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 has been done many times. If you search around you can read the debates about which one people think everyone should use.

Change your oil within the mileage of the schedule you decide to follow. If you are a little worried about running your oil longer than the schedule 1 intervals, you can always get a used oil analysis done to see if your oil is holding up.
