My Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 UOA @ 5050 miles

Finally got it done. Looks like I'll be running it to 7500 for my current interval. I'm extremely pleased with the result.

Cool. Thanks for posting!

What type of driving do you do (city v. highway/freeway)?

The fact it sheared slightly below 30-weight is not a huge deal, and probably means you got pretty good MPG. Any idea of your MPG on this oil?

Looks solid, but the lower viscosity would worry me if (and only if) you did some hard driving where it'll heat up more.

The report says 31,500 miles on the car.

And I agree with Mike. That would be my only concern. Otherwise your engine has a pretty damn good looking bill of health.

I only do a spirited drive once in a while. Other than that, most of my mileage is highway (75% at least). My MPG for this oil ranged from 20-22, but that's always been the case regardless of which oil I use.

CougarRed, I got your message about BITOG, I'll be posting it on there later today. (EDIT: posted on BITOG)

It's funny how the wording is exactly the same... here's mine at ~5000 miles.

Looks good. Thanks for posting. I'm closing in on my first change of the pennzoil ultra. I'll be sending in a UOA when i change it. Will be interesting to see how the ultra compares to the platinum.

^^ Make sure you guys also post these in the Blackstone thread which is stickied so they dont get lost and drop down to page 5!

Its shearing a little, but no where near what the Ester did. The virgin SUS @212 viscosity of the Nissan Ester oil I think was around 60 and mine sheared down to 53 after 4k miles, and I saw numerous others in that range.

The VOA I saw on the Ultra started at 57.5 and sheared down to 54.8 and the Platinum was 57.4 to start and the OP's sheared down to 55.2, both after 5k miles.

I'd still put in either Pennzoil product over the Nissan Ester for longer OCIs.

I agree with the Blackistone copy and paste though. You guys could both be on "schedule 2" and change it at 7500 miles with the Pennzoil.

When I hit 20,000 miles I hope my UOA's look that clean!

Here is the general Blackstone thread to post all UOAs.

Here is a thread dedicated to Pennzoil Ultra UOAs. Please post all Ultra UOAs there.

Here's another Platinum UOA on a G35 I found on BITOG. Looks very similar to chasemyaccord's UOA.

I wish that second UOA indicated which VQ35 it was. Any specifics on BITOG?

The 07 Coupe would be a VQ35DE or a VQ35DE rev-up.

The 07 sedan would be a VQ35HR

thanks for posting! After initial break-in, I went with the Ester. Engine seemed a bit noisier than I prefer, so next change I went with the Platinum to see if there was any noticeable difference. The PP quieted things down a bit & my 37 runs very smooth. Appears I made a good decision.....

hmm your UOA looks so much better than mine... My iron content was 70! and my oil viscosity was 54 @ 11k

that seems like a lot after 4 oil changes... I can understand the first or second one... but not the 4th one...

How aggressive have you been w/ your engine?
