A/C on all the time with Auto setting...
I've noticed through out the winter months here in Toronto that the A/C light is on all the time when the climate control system is set to Auto. I can manually switch A/C off, but it comes back on once I press Auto again.
I mentioned this to my Infiniti dealer, and he said that this is normal as the climate control system is sensing the humidity during the winter.
Is this normal/true?

This is typical with all cars I have owned with automatic climate control. They use heat and A/C together to balance the temp, and the A/C helps control humidity.
My Acura TL was exactly the same with one exception. On the Acura you could turn it to recirculate (say, if you were passing a dairy farm or dead skunk) without turning on the A/C. The control logic on the G37 turns on the A/C whenever you push the recirculate button. The A/C does not go off again when you turn recirculate off, you have to hit the button.
The G37 system does work automatically even after you turn off the A/C. As long as it is cool enough that it can keep the temp setting using outside air.

Just started the car...auto was already selected from yesterday with the A/C turned off yesterday. The A/C DID NOT come on. I repeat, the A/C did not come on. Not sure why you have a problem. It DOES come on when I first select auto but as long as I shut off the ac, and leave it in auto, ac does not come on. Try it!
Good luck
