15,000 mile service
I am coming up on my 15,000 mile service. I am told it will cost close to 300.00. I am looking on infiniti's website and it basically is an oil change, inspections and replacing the in cabin micro filter, correct me if I am wrong.
Could I get away with just getting the an oil change and 29 point inspection and just buying the in cabin micro air filer and get it installed myself? That would only cost me around 100.00, what else am I missing.
thanks

You most definitely can do that. But you'll need to get to the cabin filter behind the glovebox which is not a big deal but not for everyone:

Agreed, you can do the oil change/multipoint inspection and bypass the dealer installing the microfilter. You'll have to feel comfortable taking off the glove box, but supposedly it's not TERRIBLY difficult.
Just as a side note, does anyone know why the service manual does not have a date for replacing the ATF for the 7 speed AT? All of the service intervals say something like "inspect/replace automatic transmission fluid (except for 7 speed automatic)". Does the ATF never need replacement or flushing in the 7AT?

^^^ Good question.
The service and maintenance book goes to 120K miles with no 7AT service (inspection or drain/refill). It's as if it's a sealed unit and shouldn't be messed with, but I would assume someone with an '09 service manual may be able to provide more info. I searched Nissan's and Infinity's info and can't find a thing.

I just had mine taken care of and, "yes" you can scratch things off the list and it will drop the price.... they also inspect and replace your wipers, top off all fluids, inspect the transmission, exhaust, brakes, pads, re-balance tires (if needed) etc etc etc...

My local Nissan dealer does an oil change + multi-point inspection + top the fluids and tire pressure for $30.00 (and occasionally $19.95 on sale) vs $50 at the Infiniti dealer. They love to get business from Infiniti owners, and they generally charge about 60% of the Infiniti dealer's prices on all routine maintenance. They said the only thing they cannot do is warranty work. I priced out the big 30K service, which seems to go about $800 or more at the Inifiniti dealer, and it comes to about $450 at the Nissan dealer.

All you need is to show proof that all required maintenance has been done, which in this case would not be a problem.
If this Nissan dealer provides great service then that's a good deal. I will be taking it to my Infiniti dealer but I purchased a maintenance plan.

The only thing you HAVE to take your car to Infinit for is warranty work.

^^^Holy crap man....even then you're STILL getting hosed. Do the work yourself. You can spend $12 on oil, $6 on a filter, $30 on the in-cabin air filter and do the work yourself. I have NO IDEA why people think it's ok to drop $300-600 on work that can be done for <$60. I know there's an investment in getting Rhino Ramps (which are only like $30) and a few small hand tools, but I REFUSE to pay Infiniti $150 or whatever just to change the in-cabin air filter. It's EASY.

I spent $452 at the dealer for my 15K a few weeks ago. But in addition to the items already mentioned they reprogrammed the ECM at my request, rotated the tires (Journey model) and did many other odds and ends like a free wash, adjusting the brakes, replaced battery pads, replaced the air filter and installed a inTank fuel treat (whatever that is) at no additional charge. I also had cookies and coffee while I waited.
