Rhino Ramp question

Rhino Ramp question

So I'm getting a second "run around/errand" vehicle this weekend (2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee). One of my first plans is to change the oil/air filters as soon as I can. I was planning on getting a set of Rhino Ramp Extremes, 12000 model for the oil change. I was wondering, I've noticed many of you on here use Rhino Ramps for your G's, but I wanted to know....if I'm at stock height (aka, not lowered), will I be able to drive my G up the ramps without scraping? I know those of you lowered on springs/coils probably scrape....but what about those of us at stock height?

I'm sure someone with a coupe will chime in here, but I've used Rhino Ramps for years on my prior 2000 Corvette which is much lower than the G and never had a problem with rubbing the bottom of the nose. You should be fine.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I figure it'll kill 2 birds with one stone to have ramps for the G and the Jeep.

Stock height coupe will be 100% fine. I was fine even with Tanabe spring drop.

you will not scrape with stock height. I had the JP vizage lip on without a drop and did not scrape on it. With a eibach drop I could not get on with my Lip but with my lip off I didnt clean by like a CM but i still went on anyway cause it only scrap under it

Maybe you will get the set I returned. Eibach drop + Stillen Splitter and it is a no go. Tried the 2x4 method, but with painted floor it all just slides around too much. Made my own when I need to drive on, but most of the time I just use alum racing jack and jack stands.

Hated those ramps and finally got rid of them. They always seem to move around and I don't mean back to front but more like it pivots when I drive up on them, but my stock G37X did clear it.

Used my new rhino ramps this week for the first oil change on my new used Jeep Grand Cherokee.....flawless. SO MUCH EASIER than jack/jack stands. I gotta admit I was a bit nervous getting under it the first time, but I realized how well made those ramps are and felt fine getting back under the Jeep afterwards. I'll be looking forward to using them on the G for her oil change in another week or two.

BTW....when buying a car from CarMax, and they've said they changed the oil and topped off the fluids....actually check all of that. My Jeep "supposedly" had an oil change right before delivery.....drained the oil that's supposedly been in it for 1-2 weeks.....black as night. NO WAY that's new oil. Goes along with my coolant level being low that was supposedly topped off, so I had to go get a bottle of the new orange/magenta HOAT coolant at a Jeep dealer.....Why can't you trust people anymore???

Yeah....agreed. That'll be the last used car I get from CarMax. Actually, that's the exact reason I like buying new cars. The service starts with YOU. If YOU plan on having the car for a long time, you can maintain it appropriately.

Side note: Did my own oil change on the G37 this afternoon using the ramps.....SO EASY!!!! Infiniti really made it simple to change the oil on our cars. Except for when the dealership overfills your oil at your first "complimentary oil change" and you have at LEAST 6 qts of oil in your 7 qt drain pan to empty.....THAT should be fun. ANOTHER reason to change your own oil....you actually do it right. I'll be taking my own Pennzoil Platinum 5qt jug to the dealer when I go in for annual inspections. I'll be damned if I let them overfill my crankcase again.

here's my verdict on rhino ramps for a G37s lowered on eibach with no aftermarket lip or bumper:

None of the painted body surface underneath the car actually ever touches. Only the black plastic shields and guards touch very slightly for a brief time. The pics below show the most that your car will actually touch the ramps. Everything after this point is the car lifting and going up in the air so no more touching.



These next ones are with it lifted






And from far away. Haven't actually done an oil change with these yet, just checking the clearance. Not as high as i'd really like, but seems like they will get the job done.

Buy yourself a 4' long 1"X8" piece of lumber for $3 at Lowe's. Cut in in half to make two 2' long sections. Place them at the base of your ramps. Now when you drive up on the board, you will be 1" higher than the ground when you drive onto the ramps and your underside won't scrape at all.
