FWIW, all gas has sufficient detergent to keep injectors clean now. Premium has more octane, that's it. If you don't know what octane is, look it up, don't rely on the misinformed folks here.

There is no such thing as metric octane. There are two ways to measure octane, the research and motor methods. The results are reported as RON and MON. The RON will be about 10 numbers higher than the MON for most gasolines. The US and Canada pump octane is reported as the average of RON and MON, seen as R+M/2 and also called AKI (anti-knock index). The rest of the world uses just RON. Therefore you can subtract 5 from octanes elsewhere to get the US equivalent, it's not exact, but close enough. Hence 98 in Europe or Dubai is 93 here.

Nope, for some reason, I can't find an article related to the octane measurement and the middle east. I come from the point that only the US and Canada use the different measuring system.
I have tried 100 octane in London (95US octane), however, it costs twice the regular and it is not for mass sale.
There should be a sign at the pump explaining the octane measure though.

Good Threat. Will revert back to premium gas. My car has 5k miles now, and I thought what if I tried the super-unleaded (rating 89) at Shell. Although I feel no kocking at all, I do feel the car is slightly less power, but it's ok to me. The only I worry about is, I go against Infiniti's suggestion of 91+, so I'm afraid for the long run, it may damage/rduce life of the engine. That's why I went to this forum to see what other ppl are saying. It now makes sense, that I should really not be cheaper about 10cent a gallon and go all the way to premium gas, as I have been since day-1. I probably never want to put regular unlead (87) in my tank. It's too far from recommended 91+.
Oh well, too bad, I'll have to stick to a 30cent different between 87 and 93 octane gas...for the rest of my owning G37. But I think, it's probably the right thing to do.
Thanks.

This is the best explanation of the differences in gasolines and what to do to keep your engine clean that I have found.
