Blacked out Headlights
After reading UNV-IT46's great post about baking out the amber in the headlights. While I've got them out, does someone have a good write up on how to paint them (well) so it matches my black paint? That would be much appreciated!

Might be tough to get'em matched dead on.. You planning on doing it yourself? Might be best to take them to a paint shop reccomended to you by your nearest dealership... They should have the closest matching paint there... Either that or get'em black-chromed!!!

Hmmm....well there can't be too many "obsidian black" shades, it doesn't need to be perfect because I'm sure nobody would be able to tell the difference. Still intrigued with black chrome. :-)

Yea... That would be pricey... I saw a site online that has auto paint that is matched by our paint code... Could try that out too...

There's a guy who does a hell of a job at black chroming out here in Monterey Park (LA Area)... His prices are pretty good and his work is second to none... He's located right next to Amplified Motorsports... Black Chrome would definitely look better IMO... You can see some of his work on the site... Search for Black Chrome Grill on the forum and you'll see how good it looks... He can make it darker or lighter depending on what you prefer...

^+1. His work is amazing, his specialty is wheels but you should see his brake calipers and exhaust tips on his 911. Maybe you can send him your headlights. Another memebr is currently getting his headlights done at the moment.
Contact Lou at Amplified Motorsport and he can help you out: (323) 881-0882.
Isn't lightwurkz up in that area of NorCal? You might wanna check them out also.

Sounds great, thanks for the advice, the grille and wheels looked great. That might be down the road a little. Maybe I could get some pics of the headlights of whoever's getting their headlights done now, that would help my decision.

Awesome, well I'll hold off until then. Thanks for the great replies guys. I just got my 37 a couple months ago, coming from a WRX. The forums for the WRX are incredible and I was worried the g37 would be dead because it's still a relatively new car. I'm becoming more and more happy with it. Keep up the great responses! :-)

I also would like to see pictures on this...
So if the member who is having them black chromed, please chime in...
Or for those who know about the details about having this done. i.e. taking them off and having them painted by a shop, cost? labor intensive? etc..
thanks in advance

I'm not sure about completely matching them.. I used Krylon Fusion Spray Paint (Satin Black).
(350Z Headlight)
Prepare a lot of time so you are not rushed. You should sand each piece down with fine sand paper first. Spray evenly and don't get too close. Let the paint dry completely before each coat.
