Hi guys. I am planning on replacing my shift **** for my manual transmission 2009 G37 sedan. I kinda want to replace the boot while I am at it too. Anybody aware of any upgraded shift boots from other vehicles (perhaps from a different year G or Q, 370z, gt-r) or from a 3rd party manufacturer. I included a pic of the shift **** I am leaning towards. Thanks for your I put/recommendations.
Check out Redline Goods for shift boots cut to fit the G. I went with a perforated, four-panel, dark brown leather to complement my stone leather interior and matching leather on the parking brake handle and the center console lid. Perforated leather looks so much more classy than the cheap vinyl that's OEM. Replacing the boot is relatively easy. It's a DIY that's more of an arts & crafts thing than anything mechanical.
If you're thinking of getting that black & red **** (which is beautiful), I'm guessing you have a black interior, so getting a black leather replacement boot is a no-brainer. Consider the 4-panel design over the 3-panel, it looks better in a four corner trim piece anyway.
+1 for Redline, they’re great. I went for the black suede boot for mine
And I considered that same shift **** too! But then ended up going for the OEM G35 shifter (I really preferred to have the shift pattern on the **** itself)
I meant to say "so there aren't other cars (gt-r) that have a better quality boot that is a direct fit?
G37 till I die!
AFAIK, the only trim piece that's a direct swap into the G37 are the dome light lenses. The G lens is flat and dull, whereas the GTR lens has a diamond cut pattern which is really nice.
But the shift boot... isn't the OEM shift boot on the GTR just another piece of cheap black vinyl? I mean, that's exactly what you already have.
Genuine leather is the upgrade opportunity here, Scott.

The **** (450 grams) and the ring are both solid titanium with an etched satin finish, bought 10 years ago from a business called LatheWerks for $165 custom made and shipped.
