If the current cat back is solid, then keep it and replace your cats. A little bit louder, a little bit deeper, and a little added grunt.

The best mod I ever did to my first G37X was swapping in the coupe resonators. It was such a simple exhaust mod but made a world of difference. I had a shop cut out the stock resonators on my sedan & replace them with an OEM pair from a G37 coupe. Another forum member had recommended it so I went ahead & gave it a try. It was the perfect amount of sound I was looking for. If this is something you might be interested in, I'd highly recommend bringing your car to a shop you trust. There is some welding involved & if it isn't done right, it may sound raspy after a while. Keep in mind this is by no means "loud" by any stretch of the imagination. It's more of a subtle increase over the stock volume but you're able to "hear" more of the exhaust frequencies, almost identical to a stock sounding coupe. I hope this helps, good luck!

The setup I had which took me a long time to perfect (no drone, sounds nice but not too loud) - top speed pro 1 catback and ebay 2.5" y pipe. I also had ART pipes for added aggressiveness.

Smaller resonators (coupe or Vibrant makes a set that's the same size as the coupe) and an Axleback is likely the safest bet. I run this setup and believe it sounds the way the car should have stock.

If you have $2500 or so burning a hole in your pocket and want more power with an absolutely intoxicating sound, then I think the Motordyne shockwave catback owns the podium: https://motordyneengineering.com/pro...rwd-shockwave/

Stillen also has their catback on sale with an extra 15% off coupon code now: https://stillen.com/products/2009-20...-system-504377

My G is stock except for a Tanabe Medallion axle back and Vibrant resonators that I am very happy with. There is no droning on the highway, no trumpet sound, and you do not notice additional exhaust noise inside the car until you rev it out. I bought the complete setup from a member here who really did his homework.

Whatever you choose, I found it easier to unbolt the exhaust hanger brackets from the car and then transfer the rubber hangers to the new exhaust instead of pulling the rubber off the brackets. I have no rust underneath. YMMV.

As for sound the Revel / Tanabe Axle back is a great piece of kit. Gives the car a nice cold start sound and good sound on throttle. No drone or rasp.

I agree with the Tanabe axle back. Not only does it sound great it looks the part too. I have added Nismo/IPL h-pipe and midpipe to mine for more flow and additional sound.

Agreed with intoxicating

The Motordyne system might be too loud for what you’re looking for, but if you’re flexible on volume, I highly recommend considering it. Tony at Motordyne is the maestro to the Shockwave’s symphony
