Finally got a 2013 6mt sedan

Hey guys,

found it all the way in North Carolina and went to get it from New York, very excited. Although now I have to part with my baby (X sedan), the future is bright haha

I did not! It’s a 2013 Malbec black. I’ll take some pictures in the next few days. I want to get the headlights restored first lol

Malbec was always my favorite color on these cars.

I used this kit to restore the headlights on my daughter's Prius and the lights look pretty good now:
Amazon Amazon

I heard it only lasts for a year or so, but I'm ok with an annual renewal process. Takes a little elbow grease, but nothing too strenuous.

Welcome to the unicorn club!

If the headlights are REALLY bad, Ali Express and occasionally Amazon will have NEW plastic lenses. You'd have to bake the old ones off (google headlight mods on this forum, LOTS of info) but you would end up with new.

I've always heard the best way to restore headlights is wet-sanding and respraying clearcoat IIRC but I have never personally done it.

That's essentially what the Meguiar's kit I link above consists of, some pads with a polishing compound to rough up the surface, then a spray coating which works great.

I've seen a few DIYs with 3-4 different grits of wet sandpaper applied with an orbiting buffer or drill, then polishing. However, I think that makes the task quite a bit more difficult than it needs to be and prone to issues due to over sanding.

I've used a couple of kits over the years and even tried the good ole toothpaste trick on some lighter hazing but found nothing works better than some wet sanding, compound, polish, with a decent ceramic coating. It may be overkill but I did it on my sedan and I think it's been three summers and two winters now and still is crystal clear.

Those wheels are timeless. Hard to find a set that isn't full of curb rash. The hyper silver is also nearly impossible to paint match.

@BookofEz thoughts on adding a paint matched roof and trucklid spoiler?

The ones I got on my G to clear the BBK have curb rash and some spots where the Enkei plating has failed.
