My Right paddle shifter isn’t working
Hello, I purchased a set of paddle shifters off of someone who wrecked his g37xS. When I installed them, I took my car for a test drive and I noticed that the upshift wasn’t working but the downshift paddle was. My friend who’s a mechanic brought his multi meter and saw that the upshift paddle shifter was basically fried and wasn’t receiving power. Any ideas what I can do or do I need to buy new paddles?

Those paddles are just momentary switches, like pushbuttons, so it would be weird for them to fail. Not receiving power is not the switch's fault but points to the wires leading to it. They can't send any signals if there is no power to them. As far as I can tell from my '13 FSM, both connectors M32 and M39 should have +12v on pin-3 and ground on pin-1. Hope that helps.

#1, Was you car pre-wired for the paddles or did you have to add wiring?
#2, Did your friend/ mechanic test the paddle switch for continuity?
Though rare for these paddles, any switch can break. You can try taking apart the switch itself and check that the metal contacts are not bent out of shape. Some folks have a habit of "slamming" the paddles (like it will make the car shift faster) causing the metal contacts in the switch to get bent.

I remember that the right paddle that has two pins, one of the them was slightly bent upwards. I’ll try to take apart the paddle and see what’s going on. I doubt that a slight bend would cause the paddle to fail but I might be wrong. Thanks!

yeah sadly that’s how it was purchased. I guess I’ll try to find a replacement for it if not I’ll just buy another set. Thank you

@Klaus_2003 I came across this thread over at gtrlife.com where a member had a issue with his paddle. While not the same issue as you, the thread has pictures of the switch "guts" which will give you a idea on what to look for. Being that the paddles in the GT-R are the same as other Nissan column-mounted paddles, this should point you in the right direction.
