Z1 Sedan Cat-back Touring Exhaust
Surprised I haven't seen anyone post about this just yet. Z1 released their new cat-back exhaust for the 07--13 Sedans.

What's the reasoning behind using a cast aluminum collector?
29 hp from a bolt-on catback on an untuned G37? Nope. That's some magical dyno they got there. However, it seems like a fine catback, and I like Z1 products.
I guess pricing has spiked in the last decade, because $1,700 doesn't seem like a bargain. You know, Fast Intentions' catback for the G Sedan is also $1,700, and FI is easily more top shelf than Z1. Also, Fast Intention claims 14 hp from their catback, which is honest and realistic.

Recently helped install one of these on a 12 g37x. Good build quality and fitment. Added a few resonators, but overall a good product I would say.

When I posted this comment the price was considerably cheaper. I don't think I'd pay this much for the Z1 exhaust. The prices of exhaust is pretty insane these days. Full motordyne is like $2200+? I got my full titanium exhaust for that much.

Lastly the silent fart here is that it's tuned. Following social media many folks who are closer to Z1 or know folks personally involved have stated that it was tuned.
Disclosing this info upfront would kill it's sales.

Ehh I don't think it would kill sales to be honest. A 10-15hp gain would still be great for a CBE alone. I think it would kill sales more to claim 29HP because that's obviously bogus to anyone who knows anything about these cars.

Do you know how many owners of these kits actually believed it? Many believed it could be achieved without tuning, it seemed they were missing the W in the HP.
Then those that thought it could be achieved with tuning at least which was another let down.
The longer these items are purchased and owned will me better ratings and we are in the era of ratings as well. Folks dont like to waste money and many have removed these packages since they are copying some of the ingredients of the combo.
It's tough to survive as a big company in the Nissan world, nobody likes to over pay for anything especially when there was a bit of gaslighting by proper marketing. Giving folks ALL of the info will decrease these sales, Many found that Z1 ported manifold though CNC ported it has a light port vs what others offer at a competitive price. LTH have pulled some of the crowd that were buying their headers which since they are rasp prone they can play around with sound while making more power than Z1 ever did. Lastly their intake tubes are geared towards a safe approach that will make power without throwing things off however for their price there are some decent contenders out there.
When you start to compare apples to apples it depends what type of customer you are. There are many Z1 customers here however there are not so many "400hp package" owners. You do have folks here that try to mix the best of bolt-on possible. With this package the issue is that for sales purposes these power adders have to try to be the BEST in their category for them to not be passed on and this is why we are starting to see more and more unique parts from them.

I am thinking of going with the Z1 Y-back, if it goes on sale. $1300 seems a bit steep. But, if it goes on sale close to $1k, I'd be very tempted. The Top Speed Y-back can be had for $700, but the car sees plenty of winter and I worry about longevity of going cheap. My internal 18 year old is also tempted by the "I don't care what you think" style of the ISR single.....

Unsure why I feel like that exhaust could benefit from a bigger but longer resonator.
At the same time if the opportunity shows up to do single I would concentrate all efforts on that. Much simpler to quiet a single, even sexier when you go with a unique canister.
I feel like the Bazooka style canisters many choose when doing single doesnt look that good on the sedan bumper. Maybe a bigger canister with 1 or 2 newer style nissan/infiniti perforated tips.
Exhaust for me has always been about sound and power primarily, I'm going to have to live with it and going to hate my self if I **** it up.

Z1's touring exhaust is engineered to perform, offering impressive gains when purchased as a complete cat-back exhaust. The dyno results shown below were captured on a 2009 G37 Sedan that was completely stock prior to the installation of a Z1 Touring Exhaust. This car gained 28whp and 13wtq after installing the exhaust, an impressive number for an otherwise stock car!
