Former 2018 Accord 2.0T owner

Hey guys,

So excited to join this forum. I purchased at 2018 Accord 2.0t almost 2 years ago. It's an amazing car, classic Honda handling, really quick but IT WAS FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. The car was amazing but I could never get over the front wheel slippage when launching. Before I made the purchase I was looking at a lot of G37's and Q50's. Ultimately I went with the accord and now wish I had stuck to my instincts and bought the G. So my question: If your budget was $10 to $16k and you want a good deal, what would you expect to find in the used car market? Any recommendations or advice is much appreciated.

The automotive market, new & used, is still whacked, and although it will get less sucky over time, it's still going to be a while. And even then, things will never be "normal" again. I was thinking I had 10 to 15k to get my kid a used car this summer, before realizing that $10k will get you a 10 year old economy car with 100,000 miles on it. Insofar as $16k goes... you should be able to get a 10 year old G with 100,000 miles on it. My point being, 16 is more realistic than 10. People will surely have their own opinions, and their own "i-got-a-deal" stories.

Target the 2012 and 2013 G37 Sedan. (And the 2014 Q40... same car.)

Good luck.

Welcome!

I guess the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. There's a street-parked red Accord Sport with manual transmission in Charlestown that always catches my eye when I walk past.

If I were in the market for a used G, I'd go for the newest Q50 I could find with the VQ37VHR. The G's are getting long in the tooth, and Nissan parts are expensive.

We had a '15 MY accord exl 4cyl NA cvt in the household. At one point circumstances changed and one car had to go. The G went. The accord had more room and better fuel economy. This was in 2019.

FFWD to last year. With used car prices are nuts as they were, I got rid of the accord. Replaced it with the 2.5T stinger. Power wise it seems about on par with a stock G.

Now, if we had the 6 cyl accord (similar power to your 2.0T), then it would be a much tougher decision to make.

What tires are you running on your car? Perhaps stickier rubber will help with throttle induced slippage?
