New since 09, ~150k miles and still wasting money on mods here and there. Just bought some new coilovers and Z1 2 pc rotors just because it was Black Friday Still need to install some stainless steel brake lines from last years Black Friday sales.

When I bought my car back in 2013, I was expecting to drive it for maybe 5-6 years, then upgrade to a higher performance car (like one of the sportier Audi or BMW sport sedans). But along the way, my lifestyle and priorities have changed a lot, and I also started to drive less and less (commuting by subway, then taking a job that was mostly air travel, then moving into the city, and eventually WFH). All to say, I’m about 8.5 years into ownership, with about 42k miles, and I
1) couldn’t justify paying for a car I just wouldn’t use much,
2) wouldn’t want to park a nicer and newer car on city streets (which is a nightmare and really takes a toll on the exterior of the car), and
3) don’t at all feel like I’ve overgrown or got tired or bored with the G37

So with only 1.5 years to get to the 10 year mark, I’d say I’m a long hauler, and hoping to keep the car for at least another 5 years. Just needs some TLC this spring, planning to drop some $$$ on a really nice pro detail, replace all of the fluids, etc. Also, the car represents a personal milestone (some professional success, coming from a pretty modest background), can’t ignore that either. The man-machine bond alive and well, even though I park it under a tree that covers it in sap and bird ****

I'm positive the flange warped a bit while it was being welded, some flat sanding and MAHLE metal gaskets will have you leak free.

Good info, thanks for that suggestion! I don't own a flat or a power sander, so I don't know if I'd be able to fix it myself. So basically it's back to my same issue, I just don't trust anyone to mess with it anymore after the local hillbilly shops jacked it up in the first place.

Some 80 grit sandpaper wrapped around a flat piece of metal/glass/surface and some shoulder grease will get you straight.
I use the sharpie trick - Clean surface of metal, color the whole surface in marker, sand flat. The low areas will stay with marker until the whole thing is flat.

Bought my car back in 2014 during the summer, so almost 8 years. No plans on selling the car as I have another daily now.

Bought mine brand new back in March 2010. Around 150K miles so far, runs great, everything still works, never had any major issues. I wouldn't worry about the gallery gasket issues, especially if it only has 50K miles.

The plan a year ago was to purchase a Subaru end of this year, but still keep the G as a secondary car. Due to the chip shortage, I am not sure when I'll be able to get the Subaru. So for now the G is still my only vehicle.

For now I have no plan to get rid of the G. It hasn't given me any headaches and big repair bills, and I still enjoy driving and owning this car.

2013 with 40,000 on the clock. It's a slug off the line, but once the revs catch up, it takes off like a rocket.

Because of increasing back problems, at some point I'm going to have to get something a little "higher" for easier access / egress, and loading / unloading - some kind of SUV I guess, probably in another couple of years or so.

Yup I've had mine coming up on eight years. Still runs great at 190k miles. I preemptively replaced the tie rods and wheel bearings to prevent issues down the road. Other than that just do basic maintenance/ tune ups. It's a fun car.

This sounds almost identical to me. I still enjoy driving the car and fiddling around with mods here and there. MPG kind of sucks but I don't drive that much and I get free gas anyway. 2013 with 56,000mi.

wow, I just now realized Im also on my 10th year - Got my '08 G on 1-1-12 CPO lease return with 30K miles.
2014 gallery gasket and CSC were replaced under warranty.

All stock G except I upgraded to eibach pro kit with wheel spacers.
Now with 98K, looks great in/out. Still enjoy driving it and don't plan to get something else anytime soon.

I was a long hauler. I sold my 2010 G Sedan in July / August 2020. The water pump went out and I had my mechanic do the oil galley gasket while we were in there. I had the job done for $800 including parts and it took us about 11 hours to do the job in my driveway. He's an Infiniti Master Certified Technician. Definitely a job but not terrible. I would recommend trying to establish a relationship with some of the senior level techs at your dealership so if and when that time comes, you have options. I don't know many people that would turn down $800 for a day's work.

I got into a 2020 Q50 RS AWD and love it so far. No mods done outside of cosmetic stuff (yet). I enjoy this forum so I still pop back in from time to time.

@Atowsley and @Rochester your cars are just getting broken in at 50k-ish miles.

The water pump in my 2007 G35S also leaked slightly 5 years ago. However, I replaced the old coolant with Nissan OEM coolant(green) with 60/40 mix (coolant was 60 and water was 40)

Now the water pump is still OK(no leakage) even with 55/45 mix and my son is driving it... So far, the car is still very reliable. 5 months ago I also spent $80 in asking an auto shop to do a complete check(1.25 hrs and a road test) on it and also told them I would do a long trip very soon... Guess what... NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM WAS FOUND!!! (hope we keep being so lucky as the car becomes very old now... Knock on wood...) The mechanic also complimented that the car was still in a very good shape even with over 120K mile usage...

By the way the car was a used car with 30K miles on it when I bought it 12 years ago. I also put KW V3, Koni yellow sport, PSS10(currently) with 80-90% stiff since 11 years ago... (That's why I didn't like my current GSF until I put Ohlins DFV 16/12K on it)

PS: I also found Nissan OEM coolant was thicker or more sticky. I think I will try 60/40 or 70/30 mix on Prestone next time as Nissan OEM coolant becomes more and more expensive these days...
