Aftermarket stainless Y-pipe for X sedan

Alright, so my exhaust got loud over the weekend and I just got a report back from the mechanic that the rot seems isolated to the Y-pipe segment. Anyone have a lead on something reasonable in 304 stainless? OEM Y-pipe is nearly $700 so that's a no go for me. Mechanic says he can get a Walker aftermarket Y-pipe in today but agrees with me that aluminized parts will have me fixing it again in 2 years given the road salt situation in SEPA. He says it's not at risk of falling off so is safe to drive in the meantime and said he was cool if I wanted drop ship whatever aftermarket Y-pipe I decide on to his garage.

Also, if anyone has experience with the Megan Racing Y-pipe, give me a heads up if it A) fits the X sedan and B) bolts to stock exhaust.

If both, that might be a winner

Megan Racing Y-pipe Is not 304ss it is not even 409ss. Best case scenario it is 201ss. In other words it will rust bad if exposed to road salt etc.
It lasted 2.5 years in Chicago, installed on qx70.

It is listed and advertised as being 100% T304 stainless. Is it possible you got a different version?

Or maybe the QX70 model is different from the G37?

It is the same. And it is not 304ss. First thing go out on them is flex pipe. If your car exposed to road salts, I would pass on it.

I’ve been looking at the megan Y pipe myself as I’m about to finish off my exhaust setup. Regardless if it’s actually 304 SS or not; Would painting it with a high-temp clear coat help protect against rust? My understanding is yes, but if anyone has arguments against that I’m all ears.

Not trying to thread-steal, just spreading my thoughts/questions from a couple months of debating lol.

My guess is no. If it's going to rust out anywhere, it's going to be on the flex pipe section, which you wouldn't be able to paint effectively.
