5 quarts of synthetic 5W-30 is $25, and a new filter is $10. Give or take a few dollars on both... less for sales, more for premium stuff.

DIY oil change is maybe 1 hour of your time. 20 minutes if you're really efficient.

Not every G undertray has an oil access panel, some do and some don't, and there's no rhyme or reason to it. If yours doesn't that means removal of the entire under tray, which is a pain in the butt. Also, our filter is sideways, and that also sucks.

That's a big "No" to a $150 charge for oil changes.

Up until Advance Auto removed the discounts for oil, I was paying maybe $35-40 for 5w-30 of Pennzoil Platinum and a Purolator Boss filter. My X has the access panel but it dumps right on the sway bar. Win some...lose some.

I purchase and use 5w-30 Mobil 1 ($23~) and a Purolator One filter ($6~). I bring my own oil and filter to a local shop near me and that mechanic just charges me a flat $15 to do an oil change for me. $150 for an oil change at the Nissan is too steep and absurd.

Another vote for the Pennzoil Platinum, either high mileage or ultra. Second choice is Castrol Edge Full Synthetic.

just about any big brand name oil comapny will have all the detergents , friction modifiers, wear additive, etc.

I have used Pennzoil Platinum (both ultra and high mileage), Catrol Edge (standard, european and high mileage), Mobil 1 (standard, european, and high milage), and Amsoil

I only had oil analysis done on the Castrol standard 5w30 and euro 0w40 and also mobil 1 euro 0w40. the 0w40s both helped wquiet down some of my valvetrain ticking. I my oil change interval is 6,000 miles. I also use fram synthetic becuase i just buy everything at Walmart.

Best idea is to try a few oils and send a used oil sample for analysis. See which oil gives the best results for your car, your engine, your area, your gasoline, your driving style, etc. For me, I found LiquiMolly to be the best choice for my car, on par with AMSOIL. Motul was a bit worse, but still great. This, of course, if you really want to get **** about it, any synthetic should be fine. Dealerships use Mobil1, which I found was generating the worst wear in my motor out of all the other oils I tested.

Most of us get this when it's on sale for $20-25.

I prefer walmart to amz. The latter can't ship fluids worth a ****. With WM, it arrives in a dry, not leaking state.

I always go to Walmart and get the pennzoil high mileage full synthetic oil and a mobile 1 filter (the best one that's supposed to last up to 15k miles or something) and change it every 5k miles. It's about $30. I'm glad to see other people are using the Pennzoil! It is the best oil in my opinion. I have more faith in protection with it and really notice a difference in driving and also when its time to change the oil, the pennzoil looks better like it doesn't break down and holds its color.

Almost all the oils are the same. I either use Castrol or Valvoline. I have some mobil lying around. All 5W-30.

This is true too.. More important that *what* oil to use is how often you change it. That opens up another can of worms with countless existing threads, so won't get into it.

tl;dr Change often and you'll be fine.
