deck of cards in bicycle wheel noise
only way I can think to describe it - sounds like if/when you put a playing card in the spokes of your bike wheel and it was going around making a noise each time it hit you frame. Fairly low noise, but with the radio off I can hear it. Only happens under power, if I let off the gas or put the tranny in neutral, it goes away.
I tried to search, but different sounds are wickedly hard to describe.
Almost has that growl too like a transmission low on fluid a touch.
Is it the rear axle noise with the TSB?
i read somewhere about a heater hose making ticking noises.
Any ideas out there?

From the front or rear? Does it sound like suspension, engine, or drivetrain?
Could be a tensioner pulley (or other pulley) in the engine bay. Could be an exhaust hanger under the car. Could be a bad differential from the rear of the car.
Is my point any clearer than your description of the symptoms?

Yeah, I know, I know. It's very hard to diagnose a sound, especially over the inter webs. It sounds like it's coming from the center of the car. I hear it especially if I'm next to a wall, in like a drive thru. Exhaust does sound possible there.
As a former mechanic, I know how fun complaints about noises can be; always makes me feel for a doctor. Clueless patients you have to dig thru WTH they are thinking.
Or my other favorite 'It started happening after you...' followed by explanation that doing the timing belt did not cause the RR wheel bearing to start getting noisy...with dubious looks.
I was hoping it was one of those 'they all do that when this goes bad...' noises.

I think i know exactly what you are talking about. I have the same issue. I hear the same sound ( i like to think of it like the sound an idling truck makes). So if i keep my foot down on gas pedal and keeping speed at 30mph, it starts coming up and i can hear it from my right side front and the moment i let go of the gas pedal, the sounds goes away. It also goes away if i step harder on the pedal , something tells me it could be the exhaust or transmission. Will try to get a video of it but it's hard to record it when driving. I tried to also park the car and rev the car up to bring up the noise, but it's only when the car is moving.
