Some good performance mods to do my G37

So a few months ago, about january, I bought a G37 ‘09 Journey with about 170k miles on it, Nothing was wrong with other than the occasional maintenance, I got some new spark plugs and a new coilpack, and just earlier this week i installed coilovers because the OEM struts were shot to hell. so now it’s up and running fine.

As far as modifications go for performance, i’ve already ordered Stillen gen3 Intakes, and megan racing resonated test pipes, come august/september i plan on either buying a stillen catback exhaust system or fast intentions (maybe even motordyne). I was wondering what else would would be great to put on the car when it comes to bolt ons, and also who would be best to go to get it tuned here in Atlanta.

Z1 motorsports is one of the best tuners in the country and they are somewhere around the ATL area. You are a fool to go anywhere else for a tune given your location.

Yeah, just checked. Carrolton GA? Looks like they are about 1-2 hours west of ATL.

Ah bet that’s no problem then. I would love to go to admintuning but sadly i’m not in texas :/

also, your personal opinion, do you think modding a 173kish VQ37 with mainly just bolt ons (and a tune) be good?

If you're concerned about the engine, get a used oil analysis done by Blackstone Labs at your next oil change. Just collect a sample of the oil, send it off, wait for the results, and they'll be able to give you a good scope into the health of the motor. Being an 09, it might not be a bad idea to check your oil pressure as well in case the gallery gaskets haven't been done before. Those aren't guaranteed to fail, but knowing your gaskets aren't blown will give you more peace of mind before you start modding and tuning the car.

As far as modding a 173k car, I'd be more concerned about the transmission than I would the engine.

Very good point. I'd hope the transmission was at least serviced twice at that mileage before throwing power at it.
